Revising Loans
There are a variety of ways to revise your loans including requesting additional loans, increasing or decreasing your loan amount, cancelling your loans, or returning your loans after they’ve been disbursed.
Revising your loans before they have disbursed
You have the option to accept, reduce, or cancel Federal loans that have been offered to you through My Financial Aid. Log in to your My Financial Aid portal and click on “Financial” in the navigation bar at the top of the homepage. To decline Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans, reduce the award amount you will receive to $0. Applying for a Direct PLUS Loan is the only way to accept it; it cannot be declined. You will have the option to adjust the amount of a loan you previously took action on here as well. In need of additional financial support? If you think you need to seek alternative loan options, contact Texas One Stop to be counseled if that is the best option for you. To adjust the amount of a state or private alternative loan that you have already applied for please contact the appropriate lending institution.
Returning your loans after they have disbursed
You may return unwanted Federal loan funds during the semester the funds disbursed by logging in to your My Financial Aid portal and adjusting the amount desired. Funds returned will need to be paid through What I Owe. Texas One Stop will no longer accept checks for loan returns.
