  Special Circumstance Appeal

  If you or your parents have experienced a reduction in income or incurred significant additional expenses that impact your ability to pay for college, you may submit this appeal for a review of your Student Aid Index. To be considered, you must first complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA or TASFA.

  Cost of Attendance Appeal

  Cost of Attendance (COA) is an estimate of what it costs the typical student to attend UT Austin. Submit this appeal if you believe that UT's standard COA does not accurately reflect your actual educational expenses. This may include expenses for computers, additional textbooks/supplies, rent payments, childcare expenses and travel. To be considered, you must first complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA or TASFA.

  Dependency Status Change Appeal

  Your dependency status is determined by your responses on the FAFSA or TASFA. If you have unusual circumstances that prevent you from providing parental information, you may submit this appeal for consideration. To be eligible, you must first complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA or TASFA. If you were previously approved for a Dependency Status Change in a prior year and your circumstances have not changed, you do not need to submit a new appeal.

  Consortium Agreement Form

  A consortium agreement is a binding agreement between eligible institutions, which enables you to receive financial aid from your home institution, UT Austin, while taking courses at another institution (Visiting Institution). Use this form to request consideration of financial aid for hours required for your degree taken while visiting another institution. If you have questions about the Consortium Agreement process, please contact Texas One Stop at onestop@utexas.edu.

  State & Institutional Aid Appeal

  Use this form if you are appealing the suspension of your Texas Advance Commitment, TEXAS Grant, or OSFA awarded scholarship due to an extenuating circumstance. If the suspension of your Texas Advance Commitment is due to an increase in your family AGI, please complete the 2024-2025 Reduction in Income Appeal.

  Additional Expenses Appeal

  After you have completed either your FAFSA or TASFA, use this appeal form to request a review and possible adjustment to your Student Aid Index for the 2024-2025 academic year, based on additional expenses incurred. This may include unusual medical expenses, private school tuition expenses, or other various debts.

  Cost of Attendance Appeal

  After you have completed either your FAFSA or TASFA, use this appeal form to request a reevaluation of your cost of attendance, the estimated cost of all expenses that determines your maximum financial aid eligibility. This may include expenses for computers, additional textbooks and supplies, increased rent/mortgage payment, and childcare expenses for the 2024-2025 academic year.

  Dependency Status Change Appeal

  When you complete your FAFSA or TASFA, you receive a dependency status of either dependent or independent. Use this form if you need to change, and can demonstrate why you need to change, your dependency status for the 2024-2025 academic year. If you have a previously approved dependency status change appeal from UT Austin, you do not need to submit an appeal if your circumstances have not changed. Please submit your 2024-2025 FAFSA or TASFA and the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid will review your information.

  Appeal of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

  Use this form if you are appealing the suspension of your financial aid due to failure to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements. Before completing and submitting this appeal, please review the SAP policy. Please submit the 2023-24 appeal for Summer 2024 aid suspension.
