In 2003 the Texas Legislature gave universities the authority to set their own tuition rates. Tuition costs for Texas residents are among the lowest of all 50 states.

Tuition Set-Aside Information

UT Austin is required by law to set aside a percentage of designated tuition for financial assistance programs.

Sources of Revenue

UT Austin relies on a number of sources of revenue. Tuition and state funding are just some of the academic core funding in the university’s budget.

Student Services Budget Committee

The Student Services Budget Committee (SSBC) is mandated by the Texas Education Code to advise the administration on the type, level and expenditure of compulsory fees for student services collected at the university.
