What is the tuition rate for summer 2022 undergraduate classes?

Undergraduate resident and non-resident tuition will be offered at 75% of the long semester rate (25% discount) of the fall/spring long semester rates for the 2021–22 academic year.

Please use the tuition calculator or review the tuition rate charts for more information. If you have questions, please reach out to Texas One Stop for support.

How can I register for summer classes?

Visit the Registering for Classes page for the steps, videos, and quick-search tools to help you register for classes.

When will I be billed for my summer classes?

Tuition bills for the summer session will be distributed to students electronically on May 3, 2022 and are due on May 25, 2022. The notice will be sent to the e-mail address on the student’s record. Please visit the payment deadline page for more information.

When does summer session begin?

Summer session begins June 2 for first-term, nine-week, and whole session classes. Visit the Summer 2022 Academic Calendar for a list of complete dates.

I am not a current student at UT but would like to take classes? How can I register?

If you would like to apply as a Visiting Student for the summer 2022 session, please review the admission application information and deadlines on the Office of Admissions website.

Will students who are taking a high-demand class have access to the same UT resources as students taking regular classes (e.g., libraries, Rec sports, etc.)?

Yes, high-demand classes will be treated similarly to other enrollment for summer in terms of access to student resources like libraries and Rec Sports.

Does the summer tuition rate apply to summer visiting students?

Yes, summer visiting or transient students will be similarly billed at Texas resident or non-Texas resident rates, according to their residency status.

For what summer term will the asynchronous, high-demand classes be offered? Will they be offered for whole session, summer session 1 or summer session 2?

The asynchronous, high-demand classes will be offered in multiple sessions, based on instructor and department preference.

Will a regular summer class still have a differential rate for colleges, such as ENGR and BUS?

Yes, the differential rate for colleges still applies for regular summer classes (non-high-demand classes). High-demand classes will be charged at the same rate ($500 for Texas residents, $2000 for non-Texas residents) regardless of the college in which a student is enrolled.

How do I know if my classes are offered online or in person, or hybrid?

See the Course Schedule, which is published before advising and registration begin for each semester and summer session. Classes being offered will list the instruction mode in the notes section of the course schedule.

Who should I contact if I have questions about my summer class options?

Contact your academic advisor. Advisors are the experts in your degree plan and can answer most questions. If you need help with registration or understanding your summer tuition bill, please contact Texas One Stop.

Do the summer tuition rates apply to Option II or Option III programs?

No, the summer tuition special rates do not apply to Option II or Option III programs. The program fee is a set fee and not subject to summer discounts. Please reach out to your program of study for further details.

May Term

What do I do if I want to study abroad during the May term?

In May 2021 and 2022, the May term registration will be shifted to the summer session. If you want to study abroad or take a May term course during the May term, register during the summer registration period, which is April 18–29. Contact your academic advisor or contact Education Abroad for more information. Classes for the May term session begin May 18.

How much does a May term course cost?

The university intends to exempt the summer tuition for May term courses for resident and non-resident undergraduate students enrolled in 12 semester credit hours or more in the spring term. If a student does not qualify for the May term benefit, a May term course is billed at the summer tuition rates.

What kinds of classes will be offered in the May term?

The classes offered this May term do not differ from previous May terms. May term has historically been used to offer education abroad classes for undergraduate students as is the case for May term 2022.

What are the requirements for a May term benefit?

To be eligible for the May term benefit, a student must:

  • Have taken 12 semester credit hours or more in spring 2022 and register for a specified May term course in summer 2022
  • Be an undergraduate student
  • Be a resident or non-resident; traditional and fixed tuition students

Typically at UT, May term classes have been exclusively education abroad courses, where students had to apply and be accepted to those programs. At least in Liberal Arts, most May terms were cancelled this year (a few will continue but not as education abroad courses). Are there going to be any open enrollment May term classes on the course schedule?

Some education abroad classes are still being offered either as in-person education abroad classes or virtual education abroad experiences. May term class options are listed in the summer course schedule for 2022 and can be accessed here. Students who have questions about May term education abroad classes should contact Texas Global or their college office.
