Graduation Success

Texas One Stop’s Graduation Success Team helps students overcome obstacles that could delay graduation and connects them with resources that support timely degree completion.

Planning for Graduation

Understand your graduation requirements, prepare for your final semesters and explore options if your degree plan changes.

Senior Countdown

Senior Countdown supports students who are on track to graduate within four years of their first semester at UT Austin, or within three years for transfer students. Participants receive additional support navigating their final semesters, resolving registration challenges and staying on track for graduation.

Eligibility and Participation

  • Meet with your academic advisor
Review your remaining degree requirements and discuss your graduation timeline.
  • Confirm your eligibility
If you are on track to graduate on time, your advisor can confirm your eligibility for Senior Countdown and record your expected graduation date.
  • Begin Senior Countdown
Once enrolled, you’ll receive a welcome email with information about Senior Countdown resources, graduation planning and support available during your final semesters.

Apply to Graduate

Graduation application procedures vary by college and school. Review the graduation information for your college or school and contact your academic advisor if you have questions.

In Absentia Graduation

If you complete your final coursework at another institution and are not simultaneously enrolled at UT Austin, you may still be eligible to graduate from the University. This process is known as in absentia graduation. Contact your academic advisor to determine whether you are eligible.

Graduation Appeals

Students who wish to delay graduation after being determined eligible to graduate may have the option to submit a graduation appeal. Appeals are reviewed individually based on each student’s circumstances and applicable University policies.

Before submitting an appeal, you are encouraged to discuss your situation with your academic advisor to determine whether a graduation appeal may be appropriate. Visit the Forms page to access the current Graduation Appeal application, when available.

Completion Scholarships

Completion Scholarships support students whose progress toward graduation may be affected by unmet financial need. Funding may be available to help students complete remaining degree requirements and stay on track for graduation.

Examples of eligible expenses may include:

  • Tuition.
  • University Extension tuition and fees.
  • Required textbooks and supplies.
  • Test proctoring fees.
